hi long time fae i've posted, hope ev1 is well xxxx my question is regarding honey's food choices. even though she is offered a varied diet, she will only eat certain things. these foods are eaten every day for so long, for example she is eating rice every day for dinner, and when asked that is what she asks for!!!! any food she picks has to be the only thing on the plate, even if i put something on along with rice she only eats the rice!!!!! this happened with mushrooms, eggs, pasta, coleslaw, link sausages!!!! she eats one thing so long then stops all together!!! its wee bit frustrating but she is healthy enuff. just wonder if this is an autistic trait? other traits she seems to have are a sensitivity to noise. some loud noises don't bother her, but she covers her ears and hides behind me or mum when fire engines, motor bikes, lorries go past. she is the same sometimes with the vacuum cleaner, washing machine. honey was like this ages ago when we shouted(not angrily!!) upstairs. it was like she had gotten a huge fright. she still has some social insecurities( shy in front of people). shops can cause her distress, especially if busy. when we are out she sometimes needs the toilet, but even if she is bursting it depends what the toilet is like( can be something as ordinary as the lights, the doorway, a narrow hallway) and she pointblank refuses!!!!! another thing she has been doing for a while is mimicking my mums dog and our kittens. by this i mean she started pooping outside with the dog and pooped(sh1t) in the cats litter tray??!!!!!!!!!!!! she also climbs everywhere the cats go and put a ball in her mouth and said dad say paw, drop!!!!! how "normal" is this??? as for her language skills, her words are coming on good but she repeats a lot, for example she will say or do something and ask us to repeat it, " you say it", "you do it", " your turn". i wonder if she needs confirmation of what she is doing and feel bad if i don't "say it, do it". I have also noticed that she "statements" a lot, asking questions, more than a to and fro convo! her pain threshold is also quite high, and i feel she has no concept of risk!!! e.g. if told something is dangerous, hot, sharp, she needs to see for herself by touching, etc. finally she also seems not to have a concept of differences between adults and children. when she is interacting with others she does not ntake notice of the difference in age!!! definitely finally concerning behavioural/autistic traits i have concluded that honey does not conform to the social rules which day to day life innocuously teaches us!! the docs are cagey about giving her another label but i feel she def has autistic tendencies thru her different set of social rules to which she follows. phew, breathe, hehe sorry but been ma first post in ages, if anyone at all can help or point in right direction re autism, eating, etc i would be awfy grateful, xxxxx cheers fae honey, me(dad tom, mum sue and sis tommi ***)
